Being involved in the parent group at your child’s school is a great way to become involved with teachers, administrators and other parents at the school. If you think all parent groups do is plan fundraisers and school carnivals, you will be happy to learn that they do much, much more! Being involved in a parent group allows you to voice your concerns and opinions and gives you the opportunity to make a difference in the school. Parent groups are responsible for many educational services and creating a welcoming community at school.

Here are 10 good reasons to join today!

1 It’s good for your child.
Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their school make better grades and have fewer disciplinary problems at school. When parents get plugged in at school, children do better.

2 It’s important to the school.
Schools are growing more and more dependent on parent groups. Parent groups areresponsible for almost all of the school’s fundraising revenue, they provide support to teachers and administrators, and they create a caring and supportive atmosphere in the school.

 3 You’ll get connected
There’s no better way to know what’s going on in the school than to be on the school’s parent teacher group. You’ll know the ins and outs of everything that’ s going on.

 4 You’ll be a part of a network
Every parent group function is an opportunity to meet other parents. You’ll also get to know the teachers and administrators at your child’s school. You’ll be able to share concerns or ideas you have about what’s going on in the school.

5 You’ll make a difference
By volunteering with the main parent group, you’ll use your skills for a noble cause. Parent groups work to establish a supportive and encouraging community for the entire school. The goal is to create the most educational environment possible for our children.

6 It’s fun
You will meet a group of people who are all concerned with creating a better environment for their children. You get to plan fun events and work together for a common cause.

7 You’ll be a role model
You’ll show your children that not only are they important to you, but there education is as well. They will see you taking a stand to make education better for them and their peers, and they will take notice.

8 You’ll help raise necessary funds
Parent groups fundraise to provide more educational services for children. Fundraisers remain important to improving the quality of the school, and parent groups help make them possible.

9 It’s flexible
Parent groups have progressed to meet the changing needs of parents. There are a variety of small ways parents can help and be involved in parent groups. Project responsibilities are flexible and can be adjusted to fit with your time constraints.

10 It’s for every parent
Your voice and opinion matters! It makes a difference when you speak up and improves the quality of education for your children and their peers. You’ll see the smile on their faces and know that you’ve played a part in making school a little more comfortable and fun.
